Venezuela sanctions bill passes in the US Senate
I am gratified that the US acknowledged the fact that something needed to be done. I have mixed emotions about sanctions, knowing how long the people of Venezuela have been suffering. Time will tell. But, we must speak truth to power. Namaste.
Sens. Marco Rubio (left, R-FL) and Bob Menendez (D-NJ)
The Venezuela Defense of Human Rights and Civil Society Act of 2014 has passed the US Senate. The bill includes provisions for targeted sanctions against individuals linked to the Venezuelan government found to have violated human rights. These include asset freezes, visa revocations, and other penalties. It also urges the Secretary of State to support civil society in Venezuela.
The text of the bill is here: S. 2142. The press release from Senate Foreign Relations Committee Chairman Bob Menendez (D-NJ) is here. The White House has expressed support for the bill.
This was the bill that Sen. Mary Landrieu (D-LA) had placed a hold on. Sen. Landrieu was defeated last Saturday in her bid for reelection.
The highlight from Sen. Menendez’s press release:
“We must always stand against human rights violations, political persecution and recrimination anywhere in…

Terminator Genisys Movie 2015 – Official Trailer…: http://youtu.be/CN__WyMfEKw
“Terminator Genisys,” looks promising, but at its core, the original “Terminator ” was the story of star-crossed lovers Sarah Connor and Kyle Reese. Maintaining the integrity of this relationship will be the key to the success of this new twist yo the saga.
Five Organizations to Support on #GIVINGTUESDAY
These organizations do great work around the world, and deserve our support.
Today is Giving Tuesday, a global day dedicated to giving back. Following Black Friday and Cyber Monday, #GIVINGTUESDAY is a refreshing chance to take a break from everyday consumption and unite to celebrate generosity. If you’re looking for an organization to contribute to today, here are five I believe in and feel great about supporting. And there are so many more amazing organizations than aren’t on this list — which ones would you add?
Partners in Health (PIH) provides a preferential option for the poor in health care. By establishing long-term relationships with sister organizations based in settings of poverty, PIH strives to achieve two overarching goals: to bring the benefits of modern medical science to those most in need of them and to serve as an antidote to despair. When patients are ill and have no access to care, the PIH team of professionals, scholars…

Just Dance
One of my favorite fantasies is of being led around the dance floor by a man who knows what he’s doing. Sadly, partner dancing has been relegated to “Latin Night,” or watching the older generation do the jitterbug, wistfully from the sidelines. I wonder if another wave will sweep through, like the brief resurgence of Swing in the mid-1990s. It was too short, but so much fun!

Veterans’ Day 2013 – 30 Days of Thanks – Day 11
Although I wrote this post last year, it remains relevant today.
Reading, Drinking and Dancing with a Chaser of Snark
As a member of the American Legion Auxiliary, the poppy is near and dear to my heart. On Memorial Day and Veterans Day, millions of red crepe paper poppies, handmade by veterans as part of their therapeutic rehabilitation, are distributed across the country in exchange for donations that go directly to assist disabled and hospitalized veterans in our communities.
Thank you to our Veterans and those men and women who continue to serve in the Armed Forces.
I have written posts about my deep respect for men and women in uniform, as I did not serve. From family members, including my beloved Hubby, to friends and coworkers, I have known Veterans from too many wars. They are some of the most incredibly gifted, loyal people, with an enormous capacity for love. My personal commitment to them, is to continue to shatter stigmas about PTSD and shine a light on…

Pre-Order Take Me to Paradise on Amazon
Olivia posted a release date and it’s available for preorder!
If you receive my newsletter (and actually read it–hahaha!), you hopefully noticed this gorgeous cover and the promise of a new release in November.
If you look closely it says “Sinners on Tour Encore” up at the top. What’s that all about? Sinners at the Altar (the wedding anthology) is also a Sinners on Tour Encore. Is this the honeymoon anthology!?
Well, partially.
This is Brian and Myrna’s honeymoon story–a never before released novella–and it’s being released on November 25th. Woohoo! That was fast. Didn’t I just release Tease Me a couple of weeks ago?
I sure did.
A certain author has apparently found her mojo again. Or maybe life slowed down from WARP SPEED to normal. Whatever the reason, this certain author hopes to release all those books she’s been promising in a much more timely fashion.
Starting with Take Me to Paradise.
Which is currently available for preorder on…

My Final Thought About the 2014 Midterm Elections
Those who ignore the past, are destined to repeat it. We owe a debt of gratitude to those brave men and women who died to ensure we had the right to vote. Sadly, the system has been forever corrupted with money and the goal of suppressing those deemed “undesirable,” is alive and well.
I, for one, will never forget that love is greater than hate. Wage peace, passionately, with me.
Opinions are Bad Branding
Again, Sarah speaks truth to power, eloquently. Her thoughts on the “romanticizing” of rape/abuse as a romance trope in books, has reached critical levels. However, we all have a voice and can speak loudly with our dollars. Stop using or buying products that support a culture of oppression and patronize those that serve to uplift, educate and advocate for respect and tolerance.

Your Digital Assets … Plan Ahead
Excellent post on protecting our work
I just finished two very long and intensive days of legal continuing education. This always jump starts that legal part of my brain.
One of the topics in the two-day legal fest is always estate planning. So, I come home from Day One and find the current issue of MORE magazine has arrived and has a very timely article on “digital estate plans.”
Fate? Karma? Obviously, the universe is trying to tell me something.
To be honest – I never thought about my digital assets and what would happen after I’m gone. And I should have. Lawyers worry about shit like that.
So, since I needed a blog topic and since you, like me, are hooked into the Internet world, I’m sharing what I have learned and plan to put into effect in my own estate plan.
All of us who are tied into the technology of the Internet have…
